Edith es una ni\u00f1a que acaba de salir a vacaciones. Tras una semana saliendo todos los d\u00edas al malec\u00f3n de Guayaquil y conect\u00e1ndose en las tardes para jugar en l\u00ednea con sus amigos, est\u00e1 aburrida. Un d\u00eda, cuando su madre sale a trabajar, descubre una colecci\u00f3n de libros llamada Di\u00e1spora. Historias desde \u00c1frica. Comienza a leer los tomos y conoce parte de sus or\u00edgenes en el continente africano.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

EL COLLAR \u2013 LA REINA DE SABA<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Mientras los padres de Edith salieron a trabajar, ella ley\u00f3 mucho de Historias desde \u00c1frica y, entre los libros, encuentra un collar y una fotograf\u00eda en blanco y negro. Cuando est\u00e1n de regreso, pregunta a los pap\u00e1s qu\u00e9 significan esos objetos. La madre le cuenta que ese collar es muy similar al de la reina de Saba, mujer muy conocida por sus conocimientos y belleza. Por su parte, el padre le cuenta que el se\u00f1or de la foto es su tatarabuelo. La mam\u00e1 le coloca el collar a Edith y el pap\u00e1 propone ir a visitar a los abuelos para que les cuenten m\u00e1s de la vida de su antepasado.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

LA HISTORIA DE UN VIAJE<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Los padres de Edith la llevan a visitar a sus abuelos, que viven en Chalguayacu, en el valle de El Chota. Realizan un viaje de diez horas desde Guayaquil, que es la ciudad donde ellos viven. En el camino disfrutan de paisajes y de comida t\u00edpica. Al llegar, el abuelo de Edith le cuenta que el se\u00f1or de la foto es Alonso de Illescas, un h\u00e9roe nacional negro, reconocido como tal en 1997. Antonio naci\u00f3 en \u00c1frica y era esclavo. En un viaje hacia Am\u00e9rica, el barco en el que lo transportaban encall\u00f3 y esa fue su oportunidad de liberarse. Se refugi\u00f3 en Esmeraldas donde fund\u00f3 el Reino de Zambo.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

EL PRIMER GUARDI\u00c1N<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Edith est\u00e1 de visita en casa de sus abuelos, en El Chota. La noche llega y sue\u00f1a con los personajes sobre los que aprendi\u00f3 ese d\u00eda. A la ma\u00f1ana siguiente, mientras desayuna, su abuelita Nina y una amiga de ella, Mar\u00eda, le hacen escuchar un casete que contiene m\u00fasica tradicional esmeralde\u00f1a, grabado por el maestro Juan Garc\u00eda Salazar, nacido en la comunidad El Cuerval, en Esmeraldas. Desde su juventud, el maestro Juan se preocup\u00f3 por guardar la memoria de su cultura a trav\u00e9s de videos y casetes.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Edith llega de visita a la casa de su t\u00eda Mercedes en Borb\u00f3n.
